January Camping Trip 1/18-20/2008
- PLC decided that since the webelos attended Klondike, we didn't need to have a special trip for them.
- PLC decided to take a backpacking trip from the Fish Hatchery to Pickleshimer fields area
- They wanted to packup and move to another site on Saturday
- The Plan:
- Meet at the Fish Hatchery at 4:30 (on the trail by 5pm)
- Hike to site we stayed at when we hiked to John's Rock last
- Saturday - hike to Art Loeb trail and down to Picklesheimer Field
- Sunday - Fun day - Meet at Fish Hatchery at 2:00 p.m.
Troop Program Discussion:
- Stress taking pride in wearing the uniform at meetings
- shirts tucked in
- green pants
- pants not torn
- Felt that putting Venture boys in the patrols wasn't working like we hoped it would.
- Discussed using Venture boys to help with a patrol on an 'as-needed' basis
- Venture patrol has not met outside of the regular meetings like we had hoped.
- Discussed the 'program' part of the meeting
- Have more adult-assisted leading of programs
- Go back to having multiple simultaneous programs
- New Scouts (after webelos cross over)
- Tenderfoot and Second Class program - working on Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class rank requirements
- Merit Badges for those with First Class or above.
- Create a leadership position "Game Master" to be responsible for planning good games.
Junior Leader Training
We had planned to hold this on December 15, but since that will conflict with Scott Lewis' Eagle Project, we decided to move it to Sunday, December 16 from 2-6pm.
Need leaders to help teach portions of this training session. Please let John Dorner know which of these you would like to lead. Joe D. is going to look at his old materials for other topic ideas.

Annual Terrora District Banquet
- Friday, January 11
- Need to register as a troop by January 4
- Spark plug award due by January 2 (If you weren't at the meeting, then you'll have to go to the banquet to find out who we selected as the Spark Plug recipient)
- Cost: $10

Terrora District Winter Swim
- Saturdays from January 12 - March 22
- 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
- at Hendersonville YMCA
- cost: $2/day
- Need to find out if any boys are interested in attending
- Need to find out if any adults are interested in helping teach
- Classes offered:
- Beginning Swimming
- Stroke Improvement
- 2nd & 1st Class Swimming Requirements
- Swimming Merit Badge
- Life Saving Merit Badge
- BSA Lifeguard may be offered, but you must have prerequisites of Life Saving, First Aid, Canoeing and Rowing merit badges and must be at least 14 or completed 8th grade
