Review Meeting Plan

PLC will determine the monthly themes and make program suggestions to Venture

Venture will determine the weekly programs & games

 

Monday April 2 Meeting:

At the beginning of the meeting arrange patrols

During Patrol Corners:

Untitled 1 & 2 need to have PL elections and pick a patrol name

John Dorner & John McLeod will talk to Venture and let them each pick the patrol for which they want to be the instructor.

 

Danny Stewart indicated that lining up by patrols wasn't the ideal for closing.  Decided to have boys sit down when in troop formation more often - so all could see.  Would like to return to circling up, but concensus was that there just wasn't enough room for that to happen.  Any alternatives?

 

Behavior Problems

We need to stay on top of the fighting/hitting/kicking and address it immediately.  There are 5 boys that need to be watched very closely.

John Dorner will bring this issue up at PLC and get them involved in policing this.

Reviewed policy on behavior problems:

- 1st offense - Scoutmaster visit - will get boy to sign a behavior report - indicating that he understands what will happen if offense occurs again

- 2nd offense - will be a conference with parents & removal from that activity (meeting/outing)

- 3rd offense - suspension from all troop activities for time to be determined by severity of offense

 

John Dorner will announce this at next meeting.

 

There is also been an increase in foul language which will not be tolerated.  Please listen for any unacceptable language and call attention to (stop) it immediately.

 

Review of Skills campout at High Rocks

Went very well - would like to continue pioneering project next year.

 

 

April Wilderness Survival/Tarp-oree

Location discussed - John Dorner did not get reservations made in time :(

Site to be determined by Monday 4/2

John Dorner to look at Jones Gap, SC and John McLeod to look at Daniel Ridge Loop (by fish hatchery) or Graveyard Fields

 

May Climbing Trip

Again, John Dorner didn't make reservations for Cove Creek in time :(

Claims he has learned his lesson.

If we can have enough climbers attending, we'll go - working with Clyde to determine location.

If not enough climbers - will have to pick another activity.

 

Keeping track of boys on outings

Discussed the idea of using the bracelets and it was voted down.

Decided on: continuing to have at least three troop reports per day (morning, noon and evening)

Patrol leaders responsible for keeping track of their patrol

Provide each scout with the start of an emergency kit - including an emergency blanket and whistle - (Brian Wilson to purchase)

Recommend an activity to make a pouch or some other type holder for this. All boys (and leaders) will have this with them when they leave the campsite.
